Bring Your Own Weed To This 420 Expo In New Jersey This Weekend
Forget BYOB, it’s now BYOW. In New Jersey marijuana has been legalized for recreational use for persons aged 21 and up. To celebrate, New Jersey will now have its own convention dedicated to the bud.
Activist and comedian Tommy Chong is hosting an event called the 420 Expo which is the first ever bring-your-own-cannabis consumer event in New Jersey. The happening will take place at the New Jersey Convention & Expo Center in Edison, this weekend from September 16 through 18.
Just like you need to be 21 years old to purchase and/or consume marijuana in New Jersey, you must also meet that requirement to enter the expo. Guests must bring their own products and adhere to the state’s legal limits. The vendors at the expo will not be selling THC products, however, with the products that you bring you are welcome to smoke them in a designated smoking area on the premise. Additionally, if you choose to smoke during the event, food trucks will be located outside so your “munchies” will be taken care of.
Over 75 vendors will be on the premise and 25 panels will take place over the course of the weekend. Per TimeOut, topics that will be explored include medical marijuana, cannabis 101, and a seminar about “Combatting the Social, Racial & Economic Injustices of Cannabis.” There will also be an after-party every night after the expo.
“Even though more Americans now smoke marijuana more than tobacco, there is still a lot of misperception and confusion to overcome before legalization becomes normalization,” said J. Handy, an event co-founder, in an official statement per the outlet. “At 420 Expo, cannabis will be the star.”
Non-weed smokers can also have a grand time at the event. According to the outlet, some non-cannabis-related games include, axe throwing and glass blowing (so basically activities that you would not want partake in when you’re high.)
The organizers are expecting over 15,000 people to show up, so get your tickets for 420 Expo right here.
