Former N.J. Kmart Building To Become Indoor Go-Kart Track
A former Kmart in Berlin, New Jersey will now be the home to an indoor go-kart track. Monaco Indoor Karting is preparing to open at 328 S. White Horse Pike in the Berlin Shopping Center.
“To all of our local followers, curious as to what’s happening at the former K-Mart in Berlin NJ? With 32 electric go-karts, arcades, ninja course, and rock climbing, this new FEC is bound to breathe life back into this shopping center and the local community,” DFX wrote on Facebook.
DFX is a company that provides audio, lighting, and video systems. They note that the building will also feature private party rooms.
The company is leasing 62,000 square feet of the former 92,000-square-foot Kmart building, NJ Advance Media reports. The other 30,000 square feet of the building
The Kmart has been closed since 2014. The remaining stores occupying the Berlin Shopping Center are Dollar General, Pasta Vino, Happy Family Chinese & Thai, and Berlin Discount Cleaners. Monaco Indoor Karting has not yet announced an opening date.
While you’re waiting for the Berlin go-kart track to open, another raceway is coming to New Jersey soon.
Surface work on an indoor go-kart track has already started for an upcoming track in Edison, New Jersey. As we previously reported they plan to open sometime in December.
The forthcoming indoor go-kart track is owned by Supercharged Entertainment who previously told the NJ Advance Media that it “hopes the multi-level track in New Jersey will become a vacation destination for travelers arriving at airports in Newark and New York.”
The entertainment company also owns and operates an indoor go-kart track in Wrentham, Massachusetts, and another one in Oakdale, Connecticut.
“The owners are always looking to do things bigger and better,” Malcolm Jones, general manager of the facility in Massachusetts, said in an interview in August, per NJ Advance Media. “The lot (in Edison) was just what we needed. It really just boiled down to its close proximity to Newark and New York City.”
