Babies R Us Plans To Make A Comeback In N.J.
After years following its closure, Babies R Us is planning to make a comeback in New Jersey. In 2017, the baby product retailer filed for bankruptcy but now is looking to open up shop in the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, the company announced Tuesday (Jan. 10).
“Since acquiring both the Babies R Us and Toys R Us brands in 2021, our mission has been laser-focused on bringing them back to America,” Yehuda Shmidman, CEO of WHP Global, said in a news release per CNBC. WHP Global, a brand management firm, owns the retailer’s parent company, Tru Kids the outlet reports.
“Our plan to open Babies R Us at American Dream in the coming months is a huge milestone in the return of Babies R Us to the U.S.A., and it sets the stage for a national rollout of Babies R Us in the future,””Shmidman said.
The new Babies R Us outpost will be a “one-stop-shop for all things baby,” the company said.
In 2021, Macy’s and Toys R Us began a partnership with WHP Global to open 400 stores inside the department retailer. They’ve also pushed to sell their products online.
A new Toys R Us flagship was opened that year at the American Dream mall.
